One thing that can’t be denied is the town’s beauty. No trip to Bali would be complete without spending a few days exploring the beautiful, relaxing, and spiritually transformational area of Ubud, and I’ll tell you everything I know about the best places to stay, things to do, and various insider travel tips! Yu can read a few reviews via my Don’t Knock it til you’ve tried It series.Ubud is well known in Bali for staging some of the island’s most elaborate ceremonies, the king of which is the cremation. It’s much quieter than central Ubud and there are many beautiful villas in the rice fields. While it was nice to be in the same room as him, my masseuse had extremely long, sharp fingernails, and it really wasn’t very comfortable.My partner however, loved his massage, and claimed it was one of the best he’d ever had… so it really does depend who you get! That was our favourite temple in whole of Bali!You will have no trouble finding a driver in Bali. This place is another location for those who do not like beach tourism. You may have to choose a pick up location away from major hotels or shops. I’d assumed the monkeys were the main thing to see here, but there were three lovely temples, a river and of course the beautiful forest full of tall trees and banyans to explore too. Ahhh such happy memories for me too!I know Sarah – sometimes it’s so hard to choose when you only have limited time! especially concerning hotel accommodation and restaurants. Oh and once you’ve finished upstairs, the more adventurous out there can slide down the fireman’s pole! There are lots of carvings on the stone on the entrance to the cave.The actual cave itself is tiny! You can stay in an Ubud hostel for as little as £5 a night, so it’s no wonder a lot of backpackers enjoy this part of Bali. We had a generous portion of fried spring rolls (of course with Mama’s famous peanut sauce! It’s a steep (and often slippery) climb up to the top, but there’s a rope to help steady you.To reach the falls you walk through stunning jungle trail lovely trail, plus there’s a cave to explore too!
